Box Score 2 COON RAPIDS, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (19-13 overall, 15-6 UMAC) claimed both games Saturday against North Central. The Vikings won 16-5 in eight innings and 11-0 in seven innings.
The Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the first, but BLC reclaimed the lead with five runs in the second, which included a two-run single from senior Hunter Pearce (Berthoud, Colo.).
Other highlights included a two-run triple in the fourth from junior Liam Peterson (Port Orchard, Wash.), and a four-run eighth inning on five walks and an RBI single from senior Brent Fowler (Berthoud, Colo.)
Junior Conor Merton (Perth, Australia) pitched five complete innings and struck out four.
In the finale, senior Ross Beumer (Northfield, Minn.) hit his first of two homers with his two-run shot in the second inning for the early lead. He hit his second, a solo roundtripper, in the fifth.
Senior Jake LaBerge (Round Rock, Texas) hit a two-run single in the sixth to cap a three RBI day.
Freshman Aidan Russell (Gilbert, Ariz.) set the season record for putouts as he has 264 to date. That surpassed the 261 set by Seth Hueckman in 2005.
Bethany Lutheran will return to the field next weekend at the UMAC Tournament. Complete information to follow once seeds are solidified.
