Box Score MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany women's soccer team hosted North Central on Thursday and came out with a 4-0 victory. With the win the Vikings move to 4-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference while the Rams fall to 0-7 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Vikings got the scoring started early in this one after Madison Sax notched her first goal of the season just seven minutes in when she put one in from outside the box with an assist from Asia Jota. The Vikings continued the scoring again a minute later when Mia Saulter played a cross into the box that was knocked in by the Rams for an own goal and a 2-0 Bethany lead. After the scoring subsided for nearly 25 minutes it was Saulter who got a goal of her own, pushing one past the keeper with assists going to Jota and Elena Luján Rubio.
The teams entered the second half with the Vikings dominating possession in the first and starting the second in similar fashion. It was then Mia Johnson who scored the first goal of her career in the 49th minute with an assist to Luján Rubio. The two teams played scoreless the last 40 minutes of the match with Brooke Wolanin fending off a few shots in net late to secure the shutout victory.
Wolanin posted her fourth shutout of the season in this one, making six saves to improve to 4-3-1.
The Vikings are next in action Saturday when they travel to Northwestern for a 2 p.m. matchup.Â
