MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team played host to UW-Superior on dropped the contest by a score of 2-0. With the loss the Vikings fall to 9-4-2 overall and 8-1-1 in the UMAC while the Yellowjackets move to 11-2-2 overall and 9-1-0 in the conference.
The first 45 minutes of the contest played scoreless, with neither team able to get much going in the first half.
After a stagnant first half, the second was the polar opposite, as UWS used some great combination play to net the games first goal in the 46
th minute.
Bethany's best chance came in the 69
th minute, when
Lorenzo Falleti fired a shot that just missed as it hit the post on what would have been the equalizer. It was then in the 75
th minute that Superior would get a rebounded shot and find the back of the net a second time to take a two-goal lead.
Things would get chippy late as UWS held the Vikings scoreless with the home team getting one more good shot as
Danny Pilot hit the post in the 87
th minute before the Yellowjackets took home the win.
Nick Lundberg had a solid day in net, making eight saves in the loss.
The Vikings will next be in action on Tuesday when they travel to Northwestern for a 7 p.m. contest.
