MORRIS, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team took on Minnesota Morris on Saturday afternoon and dropped the match by a score of 3-0. With the loss the Vikings fall to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in the UMAC while the Cougars move to 17-6 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
Morris came out strong in the first set, dominating from start to finish en route to a 25-11 victory.Â
The Vikings rebounded in the second frame, playing the Cougars even to a score of 15-15 to open the set. Morris would then take a 18-16 lead before Bethany responded with seven of the next eight points to take a 23-19 advantage. UMM would draw even at 23 apiece before the teams went point for point to a tie at 26. The Cougars would use a Bethany attacking error to gain a one point lead before a service ace gave them set two.Â
The Cougars came out again in the third set and replicated the first, cruising from start to finish to claim a 25-11 win and the match 3-0.
Lexiss Trygg led the Bethany attack with eight kills in the match while
Esther Peeters dished out 13 assists. Peeters also tied for the team-high in digs with 10 with
Maddi Wendland also achieving double digits.Â
The Vikings will next be in action on Friday when they take on No. 4 Northwestern.Â
