MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team Saturday traveled to UW-Stout and fell by a score of 107-54. The Vikings fall to 0-5 with the loss while Stout moves to 3-1.
In the early stages of this one, the Vikings were holding tough with a
Gianna Klarenbeek three evening the score at 5-5 three minutes in. The Blue Devils would push to a 12-7 lead midway through the first quarter before ending the frame on a 13-5 run to take a 25-12 lead into the second.
Stout, who received votes in the preseason top 25 poll, picked up where they left off to open the second by scoring eight points in the first 1:12 to hold a 33-12 lead.
Amelia Walker and
Alba Fernandez would each connect on layups to end the drought but the Blue Devils would continue to stay efficient from the field, ending the frame on 20-8 run to hold a 53-24 lead at half.
Bethany would get a few baskets early in the third before the Blue Devils would find their stride, outscoring BLC 29-13 in the frame to hold an 82-37 lead headed to the fourth. In the final quarter Stout would outscore the Vikings 25-17 to take the 107-54 win.
Klarenbeek led the Vikings with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting in the contest while
Kaylee Hunter was also in double digits with 11 points.
BLC will next be in action on November 27
th when they travel to SMSU for an exhibition beginning at 7 p.m.
