SUPERIOR, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team faced off with UW-Superior on Saturday and Daniel Almeida scored the lone goal in the match for a 1-0 Viking win. With the victory, Bethany moves to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference, while the Yellowjackets fall to 4-2-2 overall and 3-1 in the UMAC.

The contest originally scheduled for Saturday but moved to Sunday due to weather was still affected by the elements as this game saw rain and strong winds throughout. Almeida fired off the first shot of the game in the seventh minute that was saved, before Nick Lundberg made his first save in the 13^th minute. Neither team could really muster much the rest of the first half as UWS was able to take one more shot on goal while Bethany fired two, with all being saved.  

In the second half, things picked up for the Yellowjackets, who seemed to have control early in the half. That control led to a handful of shots as well as a few corners, with a corner in the 74^th minute leading to the first goal of the game. Unfortunately for UWS, it was their corner that Bethany would use as a counterattack opportunity, with Almeida breaking free and beating the Yellowjacket keeper to give Bethany the 1-0 advantage in the 75th minute. 

After the Almeida goal, Superior would get three more corners and keep up the attack but they couldn't convert as the Vikings held on for the win.
Lundberg made three saves in the win for Bethany.

The Vikings will be back in action Wednesday when they host Crown College for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
