ASHLAND, Wis. - The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team Saturday traveled to Northland and came home with a 4-0 victory. With the win the Vikings improve to 10-6-2 overall and 9-2-1 in the UMAC while the LumberJacks fall to 0-13-2 overall and 0-10-2 in the conference.
The Vikings would strike just over 10 minutes into this one, as they would earn a free kick and
Guilherme Gancho would play one into the box that would find its way through the sea of bodies and into the back of the net untouched for the 1-0 lead.
Neither team would score for the remainder of the first half, and it was Gancho who nearly got his second just eight minutes into the second. His shot would hit the left post and ricochet out to the right side, where
Bryan Jaimes was waiting to punch it in for the 2-0 lead.
It didn't take long for Bethany to strike again, as they would score just a minute later, with Gancho cutting through the middle and taking a pass from
Daniel Almeida to take the 3-0 lead. The Vikings would then add one more late, as they would get a penalty kick in the 73rd minute that
Gijs van Eldik would step up and convert as they claimed the 4-0 win.
Bethany outshot Northland 33-1 in the contest, including 16-0 in shots on net.
They'll next be in action on Wednesday when they host Crown for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
