Box Score LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team Tuesday night traveled to UW-La Crosse and fell by a score of 71-56. With the loss the Vikings fall to 1-3 on the season while the Eagles move to 3-1.
It was a slow start from the floor for the Bethany offense as they trailed 10-5 halfway through the first quarter of play.
Kaylee Hunter would knock down her second three pointer of the frame a few minutes later to cut the deficit to 12-10, but UWL would outscore Bethany 5-3 the remainder of the quarter to lead 17-13 after one.Â
After Bethany would outpace the Eagles 5-3 to open the second, the home team would start to take over and make their mark on the contest. They would outscore the Vikings 18-3, holding Bethany scoreless the last 7:25 to lead 38-20 at the half.Â
La Crosse once again came out strong in the third quarter, as they would work their lead to 24 points early in the quarter before eventually extending it to 26 at 50-24 with 4:03 to play.Â
Still trailing by 26 with two minutes to play, the Vikings would end the quarter of a 4-0 run and they would carry that momentum over into the fourth. In the final frame Bethany would score on 7-of-9 possessions to open the quarter while holding UWL scoreless to bring the deficit down to just nine points at 54-45.Â
The Eagles would bounce back though, scoring on seven straight possessions to push their lead back to 21 points before closing out the contest 71-56.Â
Aubrea Kor would lead the Vikings with 14 points in the contest while
Gianna Klarenbeek and
Lexiss Trygg would each add 10.Â
Bethany will next be in action on Friday when they travel to No. 2 Wartburg for an 8 p.m. contest.Â
