Women's Soccer Stymied in UMAC Championship

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team took on UW-Superior in the UMAC Championship on Saturday and fell to the Yellowjackets by a score of 4-0. With the loss the Vikings end the season at 9-7-3 overall while UWS will move onto the NCAA Tournament with a record of 14-7-0.

The Yellowjackets would get the scoring started in the 10th minute of this one, making a run up the right side before sending in a cross that was received on the back side of the box and tapped in for the goal.

They would score their second in the 25th minute, as they would send in a ball from well outside the box that would find its way through the defense and be received just in front of the net, with the attacker slotting it into the right side of the net for the 2-0 lead.

UWS wouldn't be able to put a shot on net the rest of the first half, and they would put three more on net to begin the second but Arayah Baker would stand tall in net. Elena Luján Rubio would have one of the Vikings best chances in the 54th minute, but she couldn't get enough on a bouncing ball as the Superior keeper would make the save.

The Yellowjackets would then notch their third goal of the game in the 76th minute, as a loose ball would find its way to a winger on the edge of the box and she would rifle a shot into the top right corner of the net to go up 3-0. They would then tally the games final goal in the 83rd minute as they would claim the 4-0 win.

Baker made eight saves in the contest in net for the Vikings.
