Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Bethany Lutheran baseball team Thurdsay night would take on Pacific (Ore.) and fall by a score of 7-3. With the loss the Vikings fall to 2-4 on the year while the Boxers move to 6-2.
Pacific would come out of the gates strong as the first two batters of the game would find their way into scoring position before the third drove both in for the 2-0 lead.
Trent Ash would settle in on the mound though and induce a double play before another ground would get him out of the inning.
In the third inning, the Boxers would add a two-run home run from the same culprit who had their first two RBI as they now took a 4-0 lead.
Pacific would then tack on three more runs in the fourth, all unearned, as two errors would haunt the Vikings and make the score 7-0.
Bethany would answer in the fifth for their first run of the game, as two free passes and a
Will Carlson hit would load the bases where
Seth Jones would hit a sac fly to make the score 7-1.
The Vikings would score again in the seventh, as Jones would step to the plate with runners in scoring position once again and this time knock a two-out single to plate another run and cut the deficit to 7-2.
Liam Peterson would then lead off the eighth with a single and eventually come around to score on a passed ball to make the tally 7-3, but the Vikings couldn't scratch out any more runs as the Boxers claimed the win.
Bethany outhit Pacific 8-7 in the matchup and drew more walks, but the Boxers were able to get timely hits to claim runs.
Jones, Peterson, and
Nolan Spence all had two hits to lead the Vikings. Ash sufered the loss on the mound, going six innings and allowing four earned runs while striking out seven.
The Vikings will now play a pair of seven inning contests against Pacific tomorrow beginning at 12:00 PST.
