MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team Tuesday hosted Augsburg for a non-conference matchup and fell by a score of 6-0. With the loss the Vikings fall to 0-3 while the Auggies move to 2-1.
Bethany's defense held strong through the first 20+ minutes of this one with
Arayah Baker making four early saves. Augsburg would then crack the ice with a goal in the 23rd minute to begin the scoring and take the early lead. The Auggies would then put three more shots on net for the rest of the half, with Bethany holding strong to trail 1-0 after 45 minutes.
The second half proved to be all Augsburg though, as the visitors would control possession and find their flow, firing off 15 shots with five finding the back of the net as they would roll to the 6-0 win.
Baker made 11 saves in net in the loss while
Riley Ping and
Mia Saulter each had a shot on goal.
Bethany will be back in action on Saturday when they host UW-River Falls for a 2 p.m. contest.
