Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women's soccer team got their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 5-0 win over North Central. With the win the Vikings improve to 1-5 on the year and 1-1 in the UMAC, while the Rams fall to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
After this one played scoreless for a majority of the first half,
Elena Luján Rubio would start to steal the show as she would fire in a goal from well outside the box in the 37th minute to open the scoring. Just over a minute later
Ava Hanley would send a ball into the box that Lujan Rubio would volley up to herself before corkscrewing her body and sending a spinning left footed shot into the right side of the net.Â
It didn't take long into the second half for the junior to get her hat trick as she would take another cross, this one from
Mia Johnson, and head it into the back of the net for the 3-0 lead.Â
After a few more great chances over the next 10 minutes,
Mia Saulter would make things 4-0 for the visitors after firing a shot from well outside the box and over the keepers reach.Â
Bethany would then add one more goal in the 87th minute, as
Sarah Breukelaar would tally her first career goal after putting one into the bottom right corner with
Juliana Correa Paez getting an assist.
Ema Cortes Carvalho got the win in net for the Vikings who are next in action on Tuesday when they host Martin Luther for a 4:30 p.m. matchup.Â
