SUPERIOR, Wis. - The 2025 Bethany volleyball season came to a close Wednesday night at UW-Superior following a 3-0 loss in the UMAC semifinals. The Vikings finish the season 16-12 overall, reaching the 16-win mark for the first time since 2007.Â
Bethany claimed the first point of the match but the lead was short-lived as the Yellowjackets went on a 10-2 run and cruised to a 25-13 win. The home team rolled its momentum into the second with a quick 9-2 lead. Bethany answered with a 7-1 run to come within one point, but Superior gained separation and won 25-17.Â
The third set was the most closely contested with 13 ties and seven lead changes. Trailing 22-19, the Vikings rattled off five straight points with Abby Distad on the serve to hold set point, but the Yellowjackets answered with four straight to clinch the match at 26-24.Â
Maddie Meyer and Lexis Trygg led the attack with eight kills apiece. Distad finished with 23 assists and seven digs, while Kylie Smidt led the defense with 22 digs.Â
