MANKATO, Minn. – The Vikings picked up their first win of the season on Saturday with a commanding 72–52 victory over Augsburg. It was a tight game in the opening quarter as both teams traded baskets, but the Vikings soon found their rhythm from beyond the arc, shooting an impressive 50% (9-for-18). With that strong perimeter shooting, Bethany Lutheran was able to pull away late in the third quarter and into the early stages of the fourth. The Vikings then sealed the win down the stretch by knocking down over 80% (21-for-26) of their free throws.
It was a breakout game for first-year guard Morgan Hulke, who scored 16 points, hit four three-pointers, and added three rebounds, a block, and a steal. The Vikings now get a couple of days off before traveling to Carleton for a match-up on Wednesday, November 19.
