WINONA, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball lost 97-63 at Saint Mary's on Saturday, dropping to 2-4 overall.
The Vikings were limited to 35.8 percent shooting from the field while the Cardinals converted at 55.6 percent. The home team was also efficient from the free throw line, making 19-of-22.
Bethany held early leads of 5-2, 7-6, and 9-8 in the first quarter before the Cardinals closed out the frame on a 10-3 run, taking a 23-16 advantage into the second. Saint Mary's built its lead to double figures and went into the locker room with a 41-27 advantage.
The home team quickly extended the lead in the third quarter and continued to do so all throughout the fourth quarter.
Morgan Hulke was strong on the offensive end, leading the Vikings with 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor, including 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Kenadi Arndt was next with 11 points. Arinn McGee added nine points and a team-high five rebounds.
Bethany returns home to host Gustavus at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
