MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball lost 83-51 to Gustavus on Tuesday, dropping to 2-5 on the season.
The Gusties quickly gained a 13-2 lead in the first 3:30 of the game and maintained the advantage the rest of the way. A layup by Juliana Ewald ended the first quarter with the Vikings trailing 19-13. Gustavus continued to add to its lead in the second quarter and carried a 39-21 advantage into the break.
The visitors expanded the lead to 61-33 at the end of the third and gained its largest advantage of 32 points with their final bucket of the game.
Bethany shot 40.9 percent from the floor and made 5-of-19 from long range, while Gustavus converted at 51.5 percent from the field and made 8-of-21 threes.
Morgan Hulke paced the offense with 13 points. Arinn McGee was next with seven points. Sheridan Kennedy led on the glass with seven rebounds off the bench.
Bethany hits the road Saturday, taking on Buena Vista at 2 p.m.
