MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball snapped a six-game losing streak Wednesday with a 68-57 win over St. Olaf, improving to 3-9 overall.
Kendai Arndt and Morgan Hulke had strong offensive performances for the Vikings, recording 19 and 14 points, respectively.
Lauren Bauer forced a turnover and made a fastbreak layup on the second possession of the game and the Vikings did not trail throughout the first quarter. The Oles gained their first advantage 1:12 into the second quarter at 14-13, but the Vikings responded with 15-2 run, highlighted by threes from Hulke and Juliana Ewald. Bethany led 36-22 at half.
The Vikings built their lead to 19 at the end of the third and held a 20-point lead twice early in the fourth before the Oles made a comeback bid with a 12-0 run, cutting the difference to 61-53 with 3:47 remaining. Bethany was able to hold the Oles off, though, securing the 11-point victory.
The Vikings shot 42.4 percent from the floor and made 13-of-14 free throws. They also won the rebound battle 32-27 and forced 20 turnovers, which led to 24 points off the takeaway.
Bethany travels to Central College on Saturday afternoon for its final non-conference game of the season.
