Women's Basketball Falls 62-53 at UW-Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. - Bethany women's basketball lost 62-53 at UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, dropping to 2-8 overall. The Vikings went point-for-point with the Pointers in the first, third, and fourth quarters, but a 16-7 second quarter deficit proved to be the difference.

Bethany erased an early five-point deficit with six-straight points, taking a 10-9 lead on an Arinn McGee layup with two minutes left in the first and the teams were tied 10-10 after the opening 10 minutes. Stevens Point created separation in the second quarter with eight straight points and carried a 26-17 lead into half time.

The Vikings got within one point after Kenadi Arndt and McGee hit both of their free throws midway through the third, but the Pointers rallied with a 12-4 run to end the third up 44-35. Bethany got within seven points in the fourth but that was as close as it got in a nine-point defeat.

Bethany shot 36.7 percent from the field and made 14-of-18 from the charity stripe. McGee led the offense with 17 points. Arndt was next with 13 points. Morgan Hulke added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds off the bench.

The Vikings return home next Saturday afternoon to host Hamline.
