Box Score 2 TUCSON, Ariz. - The Bethany Lutheran baseball team played in a pair of games in Tucson, Arizona on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Division II Minot State 17-7 before dropping a contest to Concordia University Wisconsin 15-14. With the results the Vikings fall to 3-5 on the season.

The Vikings were the team to strike first in this one, as
Cael Willaert opened the scoring with a solo shot in the top of the second inning.
Josh Robb would then double and
Malachi Santiago would single and both would later be driven in on at-bats from
Will Carlson and
Eli Fest.
In the bottom half though, MSU would explode for six runs on six including a two-out bases clearing double to lead 6-3. They would add one more run in the bottom of the third to take a 7-3 lead.
Bethany would get one back in the top of the fourth after a
Gary Swann bases loaded walk but Minot would add six more runs in the bottom half on seven hits to go up 13-4.
The Beavers would add another run in the fifth inning following a solo shot but the Vikings were quick to respond in the top of the sixth as they would get four hits and
Connor Brigger and
Aidan Russell each tallied RBI base hits to make it 14-7.
Minot would add two more runs in the sixth and then one more in the seventh as they would defeat the Vikings via 10-run rule.
Fest and Santiago each had two hits in the contest while six other Vikings added one hit.
Concordia Wisconsin 15 - 14 Bethany Lutheran
The Vikings would strike first in game two as
Xander Meissner would launch a three run shot in the first inning to put the Vikings in front.
After CUW added one run in the bottom half and Bethany went down quick in the top of the second, Concordia would explode for eight runs on eight hits in the second to claim the 9-3 edge.
Both teams would be held scoreless in the third inning before the Vikings were able to pull within one after putting up five runs in the fourth. Bethany had four hits in the inning but three costly errors from CUW allowed the extra runs to come across.
Another scoreless frame from both teams in the fifth inning was followed by the Vikings evening the score in the sixth after Fest would get a hit and steal a pair of bases before coming around to score on a
Nolan Spence hit.
Concordia once again had the answer in the sixth inning as they would plate three runs thanks to two free passes and four hits as they claimed the 12-9 lead after six complete.
CUW would add one more run in the eighth inning to go up four before Bethany made their comeback in the top of the ninth. The Vikings would open their inning with four straight singles before two free passes and another single brought them within one at 13-12. Russell then stepped up and ripped a single to bring two more runs home as the Vikings claimed the 14-13 lead.
The Falcons would use a single followed by a hit and an error to put runners on the corners with one away before a sac fly evened the game. They would then get another hit with the other runner coming around to score as they claimed the walk off win.
Nolan Spence had a massive game for Bethany as he posted four hits in four AB's in the contest while Aidan Russell added three hits.
Bethany will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Dakota Wesleyan and Gustavus.
