McGee Named Rookie of the Year to Highlight UMAC Awards

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Arinn McGee was named Rookie of the Year as the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) announced their end of season women's basketball awards Wednesday, while Gianna Klarenbeek, Aubrea Kor, and Juliana Ewald all earned All-Conference honors. Klarenbeek and Kor each earned Second Team while Ewald garnered Honorable Mention. Kiley Mueller was the Vikings recipient of the UMAC Sportsmanship Award. 

McGee had a stellar year for Bethany, averaging 6.6 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and those numbers jumped even higher during the conference season, as she averaged 8.4 points and 6.5 rebounds. The freshman was also one of the most efficient players in the conference from the field, as she shot at a 57.3 percent clip from the field this season which is the fifth best mark in program history. 

Kor was also an efficient scorer for Bethany this year, averaging 9.3 points on 41.0 percent shooting while also leading the team in made free throws with 47 at a clip of 74.6 percent. Kor also led the Vikings in assists and steals with 52 and 34, respectively, with her 2.1 assists per contest ranking 10th in the UMAC. 

Klarenbeek led the Vikings in scoring this season as she averaged 10.5 points per game to go along with 3.7 rebounds. She made the most three pointers of any Bethany player this season with 33 while she was even more efficient during the conference season, making 26-of-73 shots from deep to shoot it at a 35.6 percent. 

Ewald averaged 8.9 points per game year while also adding 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists. She connected on the second most three pointers on the team with 24 while her 33 steals on the season trailed teammate Kor by just one.
