Inside the Box Scores

Bethany 9 - 1 Crown

The Vikings opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with three runs, loading the bases before Carly Nelson and Jolyne LeClair each delivered RBI singles to clear them for an early 3-0 lead.

Kaija Mork got the start in the circle in game one and tossed clean first and second innings before giving herself some insurance in the top of the third with a solo home run.

Mork then retired the side again in the third before the Polars finally broke through in the fourth. A walk and two singles plated their first run and left two on, but a double play and a flyout got the senior out of the jam.

Carly Nelson added her third and fourth RBIs of the contest in the fifth with a two-run double before coming around to score on a LeClair single. A few batters later, Bryn Weidner singled to plate another Bethany run, before Anna Lee came home after taking advantage of a first-and-third baserunning opportunity to make it 9-1.

After a one-out single in the bottom of the fifth, Emily Meyer entered the circle and shut the door with two quick outs to secure the 9-1, five-inning win.

Mork allowed just three hits and two walks to earn the victory, while Weidner led Bethany at the plate with three hits.

Bethany 8 - 0 Crown

Game two was all about Meyer's dominance in the circle, as she, like Mork in game one, didn't allow a baserunner through the first three innings.

Carly Nelson provided early offensive support with a second-inning home run to give Bethany a 1-0 lead. Meyer then came around to score on an Aliya Edbom-Kehler double in the fourth, extending the lead to 2-0.

Meyer allowed her only baserunner in the fourth inning, working around a leadoff walk with a pair of strikeouts before the Bethany offense erupted for five runs in the fifth.

Orla Keys and Mork each singled and came around to score on Crown miscues to make it 4-0, before a Weidner double followed by an Emily Doyle home run made it 6-0. Meyer then scored the seventh run of the game after singling and eventually coming home on a wild pitch.

After another quick inning from Meyer, Mork added the eighth run with an RBI double before Meyer closed the game in the sixth with a pair of strikeouts to seal the no-hitter and the win.

Meyer struck out 14 of the 19 batters she faced, allowing just one walk, while also helping herself at the plate with a pair of hits.

Bethany will be back in action next Thursday when they host Northwestern for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
