GENEVA, Ohio - Stephanie Witbrod capped off an outstanding collegiate career on Friday, making her fifth appearance at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships and her third consecutive showing at the Outdoor Championships. The senior put forth a strong performance in the shot put, finishing in 17th place overall. She narrowly missed out on All-American honors, tying for 16th place but finishing second on the tiebreaker.

Witbrod tossed a distance of 13.34 on her first throw and sat near the middle of the leaderboard after one go round, but was faulted on her next two throws. The mark that was the cut off for the finals was 13.83, with the top nine athletes advancing.

Here's what head coach Jakin Anderson and Witbrod had to say about the event.

Anderson: "Really proud of Steph and how she was able to compete all year. Making it to nationals once is great, ut doing it five times in a career, let along three times in multiple events (shot put and triple jump) is something to truly be proud of. We didn't get the result we were after, but it was still a great day in some pretty tricky conditions. It was wet, windy, and cold which can make for some tough throwing conditions, but Steph handled it well and had a really solid mark. She ends up just missing out on Second Team All-American, but still had a phenomenal career and plenty to be proud of.

Witbrod: "Nationals was a great experience that finished up a great year. It was tough, but I am very appreciate of everything that I was able to accomplish and that I was able to learn from the school. It wasn't the result I wanted today, but I am very happy with the year, and that I got to compete at this meet."
