MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball extended its conference winning streak to five games Saturday afternoon, rolling to a 69-55 win over North Central. The Vikings improve to 8-10 overall and 5-0 in the UMAC.Â
Juliana Ewald made the first basket of the game and the Vikings never trailed the rest of the game. Kaylee Hunter and Ewald hit consecutive threes and Lauren Bauer later connected from long range, and the Vikings led 13-9 after the first quarter.Â
At the 6:54 mark of the second quarter, Bauer made a layup giving the home team its largest lead of the half at 20-9. The Rams got within three points on their final possession of the half and trailed 26-23 after 20 minutes.Â
After a three-pointer by the Rams cut the deficit to two with 6:16 left in the third, the Vikings went on a 13-4 run to close out the quarter with a 47-36 advantage. NCU got within five points in the fourth but the Vikings closed out the game strong, making eight consecutive free throws.Â
Bethany shot 35.8 percent from the floor, led by Ewald and Kenadi Arndt with 16 points apiece. Arndt added 11 rebounds for the double-double. Morgan Hulke and Bauer each chipped in 10 points. The Vikings dominated on the boards 46-30.Â
The Vikings are back on the road Wednesday evening at UM-Morris.Â
