MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball kicked off UMAC play Wednesday evening with a dominant 67-48 win over Northwestern-St. Paul. The Vikings (4-10) had 20 more rebounds than the Eagles and limited the visitors to 32.8 percent shooting.Â
Northwestern made the first bucket of the game but the lead was short-lived as the Vikings responded with the next six points and led the rest of game. Bethany led 19-12 after the first quarter and led by as much as 10 in the second before the Eagles got within four points in the final minute of the half. Morgan Hulke hit a three-pointer with 26 seconds on the clock and the Vikings led 36-29 at the break.Â
Bethany built its lead back up to double digits with a dominant third quarter as a three from Juliana Ewald gave the Vikings a 53-36 advantage heading into the fourth. Bethany maintained a comfortable lead throughout the fourth for a 19-point victory.
Kenadi Arndt led the offense with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including eight rebounds and two assists. Arinn McGee was efficient from the floor, shooting 7-for-9 with 14 points and eight boards, while Ewald added 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Sheridan Kennedy led on the glass with 10 rebounds.Â
The Vikings shot 43.5 percent from the field and made 9-of-23 from long range. They also out-rebounded the Eagles 47-27.Â
