MANKATO, Minn. -Â Ted Tendaie's bicycle kick goal stole the show Monday night as Bethany men's soccer wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 4-2 win over Bethel. The Vikings are now 12-6-1 overall with one UMAC match remaining in the regular season.Â
Both of Bethel's goals in the first half came off set pieces, with the first on a penalty kick in the 17th minute and the second on a corner kick in the 31st minute. The Vikings cut their deficit in half with 2:39 left in the period as Diogo Casta crossed from the right side to Ezekiel Human in the box, who just got a piece of it to Pedro Meira for the goal. Bethany edged the Royals 5-4 in overall shots in the first 45 minutes, but the visitors led 3-1 in shots on goal. Â
In the 65th minute, Mike van der Horst centered a pass from midfield into the box where Tendaie collected, took a touch, and served himself a bicycle kick that found the lower right corner of the net for his team-leading 14th goal of the season.Â
Bethany then scored the game-winner in the 81st minute as Tendaie connected with Diogo Castanheira for his fifth goal of the season. Jamie van Wijland then put a stamp on the victory with a missle goal with under five minutes to play, assisted by Pedro Henrique Meira de Morais.Â
The Vikings outshot the Royals 15-1 in the final 45 minutes and 8-4 on goal throughout the game. Brady Price made one save in the first half and Christian Sgarra made another save in the final 45 minutes.Â
The Vikings conclude the regular season Friday evening against UW-Superior.Â
