Men's Basketball Tops UW-Superior 82-65

MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany men's basketball completed the series sweep over UW-Superior on Saturday evening, winning 82-65 to improve to 13-10 overall and 6-4 in the UMAC.

Superior scored the first bucket of the game but the lead was short-lived as Bethany went on a 13-2 run and never looked back. A three-pointer by Ricky Wengert gave the Vikings a double-digit lead at the 11:35 mark and another three by Max Briggs gave the Vikings their largest lead of the half at 23-8 with 8:58 on the clock. Bethany led 35-25 at the break.

The Yellowjackets closed the gap to four points with 12:18 remaining, but the Vikings quickly regained a double-digit lead and cruised to a 17-point victory. Head Coach Pat Garvin was able to clear most of his bench in the final minutes, getting 13 players time on the court.

Bethany shot 47.5 percent from the field and made 13-of-30 from long range. Elliot Whitney led the offense off the bench with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Hudsen Jenniges was next with 14 points, while Jack Brockmann added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Bethany is back home Wednesday night against UM-Morris. The Vikings won the first game of the series 107-105 in double overtime on Jan. 28.
