TUCSON, Ariz. - Bethany baseball forced the 10-run rule for the second straight game, defeating Carthage 11-1 in eight innings Saturday for its fifth consecutive win (5-1).
The Vikings scored three times in the second, starting with a two-run double by Seth Jones. Jayden Knutson then plated Jones with a single.
Carthage scored its lone run in the fourth on an RBI single, but that was all it could muster off Vikings starter Adryen Tietz, who went 5.2 innings. He improved to 1-0 with three hits and four strikeouts.
Yunior Pena hit home Xander Meissner in the fifth for a 4-1 lead and Vincent Curzie plated three more runs in the seventh. Joshua Miller made it 9-1 in the eighth with a two-run single and then Pena hit a walk-off two-run triple for the run rule.
Sean Gamble closed out the final 2.1 innings on the mound for the save. He gave up one hit with two strikeouts.
Curzie led at the plate, batting 3-for-4 with a run and three RBI.
Bethany continues play in Tucson tomorrow morning against La Verne.
