NEW ULM, Minn. - Bethany men's tennis earned a 7-0 shutout win at Martin Luther on Tuesday, improving to 12-6 overall, while the Viking women lost 5-2, dropping to 4-18.
The Vikings started the match by earning the doubles point with a clean sweep. Joel Simon an dDaniel Poulakidas won 6-0 at No 1, Thales Oliveira and Simao Caetano won 6-2 at No. 2, and Mark Barton and Ezra Greenman also won 6-2 at No. 3.
The Vikings did not allow more than three points in any singles set, winning in straight sets top to bottom - Simon, Poulakidas, Barton, Caetano, Oliveira, and Greenman from one to six, respectively.
The women swept doubles play with Sailor Mohlenbrock and Brianna Lienig winning 6-2 at No. 1, while Campbell Amundson and Madilyn Omar won 6-4 at No. 2.
Amundson earned the lone singles victory for the women, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2.
The Bethany men close out the regular season 1 p.m. Saturday at home against UW-Superior.
