Baseball Wins 11th Straight, 10-3 Over Macalester

MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany baseball continued its winning ways Monday at ISG Field, defeating Macalester 10-3 for its 11th consecutive victory. The Vikings, now 25-5 overall, have scored at least 10 runs in nine of their last 10 games and rank fourth in Division III with 11.3 runs per game.

After a scoreless first inning, Kyle Carlberg hit a sac fly to score Vincent Curzie. Josh Miller followed with an RBI single to extend his hitting streak to nine games.

The Vikings plated four runs in the third. Gary Swann hit a two-run single and then two runs were scored following a strikeout to Seth Jones. The catcher dropped the third strike, allowing Curzie to score from third, and then the catcher overthrew the pitcher at home, allowing Swann to score from second.

The Scots scored another solo run in the sixth with a sac fly before the Vikings got that run back in the bottom half as Swann scored on a wild pitch.

In the seventh inning, Yunior Pena hit a sac fly to score Jayden Knutson. Curzie ensued with an RBI single for a 9-2 lead. The Scots scored their final run in the eighth with another sac fly before Knutson hit an RBI groundout in the bottom half.
