Baseball Set for NCAA Super Regionals At Adrian, Mich.

MANKATO, Minn. - After winning the Whitewater regional last weekend, Bethany baseball is set to travel to Michigan this weekend for the NCAA Super Regionals at Adrian College. The Vikings (34-6) and Bulldogs (35-11) will play a three-game series Friday and Saturday with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio on May 29-June 4. 

Game one is set for noon (EST) Friday, game two is 11 a.m. Saturday and the if necessary game three will immediately follow game two. 

The Vikings advanced to the Super Regionals after winning all three of their games at the Whitewater regional. Bethany beat Luther 8-2, UW-Whitewater 8-7, and then defeated the Warhawks again 8-7 in 11 innings in the regional championship, knocking out the defending national champions. The Bulldogs won their own regional as host after losing to DePauw 12-4 in their first game. Adrian then rattled off four straight victories, beating Wittenberg 8-2, Webster 2-1, DePauw 13-5, and DePauw again 13-4. 

Bethany entered the NCAA tournament ranked 32nd in the Division III NPI and third in Region IX, while Adrian entered the tourney 17th in the country and fourth in Region VII. 

Bethany is currently making its fifth NCAA tournament appearance with a 3-8 all-time record, and first showing at the Super Regionals, while Adrian is in its 18th NCAA appearance with a 39-37 all-time record and its best finish of fourth place at the 2008 World Series.
