MANKATO, Minn. - Alysha Strunk has been named the interim coach of Bethany Lutheran College's eSports program. Strunk takes over for Lucas Fricke, who accepted a position as principal of Christian High School.Â
"We're excited to have Alysha lead our eSports program and look forward to its continued success," said Co-Athletic Director Ryan Kragh. "Lucas set a standard of excellence with Bethany eSports and we have the utmost confidence that Alysha will move the needle forward."Â
Strunk already has familiarity with the Bethany eSports program as she has coached Call of Duty and appeared in the team's video messages. Fricke described Strunk as a "joyfully competitive and fiercely encouraging force for Bethany eSports."Â
"I'm truly excited about the opportunity to step into the interim eSports coach role," said Strunk. "Being named the program's new coach means a great deal to me, as I have seen firsthand how eSports can empower students by building confidence, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills. I look forward to supporting our players in their growth both competitively and personally while fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
"I'm especially eager to work closely with the students, strengthen the program, and continue building a community that students are proud to be part of. I'm grateful for this opportunity and can't wait to get started."
An official search for the next coach of the Bethany eSports program will take place in the coming months.Â
