MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany women's soccer earned its first victory of the season Saturday with a decisive 7-0 decision over North Central, improving to 1-2-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the UMAC.Â
The Vikings opened the scoring on a corner kick from Payton Anderson as Reese Moorad headed it in at the 30:22 mark. Kiara Walker then scored back-to-back unassisted goals within 65 seconds of each other and the home team carried a 3-0 lead into half time.Â
Kia LeKander tallied her first goal of the season in the 69th minute with help from Anderson and Walker. Walker then completed the hat trick in the 79th minute with yet another unassisted goal - her team-leading fifth of the season.Â
Paige Winkelmann earned her first goal of the year in the 86th minute on an assist from Roxy Rehberg. After a goal keeper change, Arayah Baker moved to a position player and scored her first career goal with 2:25 on the clock. Rehberg once again picked up the assist.Â
Bethany controlled possession throughout most of the game, out-shooting the Rams 27-2 overall and 15-2 on goal. Baker made both saves for the Vikings while Sara Lara Tabuena finished the final 10 minutes in goal without facing a shot.Â
The Vikings hit the road next Saturday to face UW-Superior.Â
