MOORHEAD, Minn. - Bethany volleyball went five sets Tuesday night at Concordia-Moorhead, but suffered a 3-2 loss, dropping to 3-10 overall.Â
First-year Izzie Reynolds led the attack with a season-high 16 kills and was set up 51 times. Marissa Stamer and Claire Huettl directed the offense with 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Stamer added 14 digs for her fourth straight double-double. And once again, Avery Carlson held down the back line with 24 digs.Â
The first set never saw a difference of more than four points but the Cobbers pulled away late for a 25-22 win. The two sides traded blows throughout the entire second set, which went to extras. Concordia held set point three times, but the Vikings had an answer each time. Consecutive kills by Reynolds gave Bethany set point and a Cobber attack error ended it at 29-27.Â
Bethany carried its momentum into the third with a 12-9 lead before the home team tied it at 12-12. The Vikings never relinquished the lead, though, in a 25-21 win. Bethany then led early in the fourth at 4-2, but the Cobbers went on a 6-2 run and never looked back in a 25-19 win to force the deciding fifth set.Â
A Cobber attack error gave the Vikings the first point, but that was their only lead as the home team went on to clinch the match 15-9.Â
Bethany returns home for a conference match Friday night against UW-Superior.Â
