Volleyball keeps it close against St. Scholastica

Box Score

Duluth, Minn. - The Bethany Volleyball team traveled to Duluth to play against the St. Scholastica Saints Friday night.

The Vikings were unable to pull out a win against the Saints, who are rated number one in the conference.  Despite their loss, the Vikings played an amazing defensive game and came away happy with the way they played.

“It was a hard fought game, and there were some off calls by the refs, but we still played with good intensity and came close every game. We can’t wait to take them on again on our own court,” sophomore Emily Schrupp (Norwood, Minn./Mayer-Lutheran) said.

The first and second game Bethany scored 19 points. It was back and forth game until the very end, when St. Scholastica pulled away to win it. Rally’s were long, and Bethany played two tough games, but couldn’t pull out the win.

The third game Bethany kept St. Scholastica on their toes, and kept things even closer but fell 25-23. Schrupp led the team with 9 kills. Taylor Kahlow (Henderson, Minn./LeSueur-Henderson) and Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) had a good defensive game, Kahlow with 14 digs and Edmison with ten.

Bethany’s volleyball team will be staying in the Duluth area to play the Northland Lumberjills Saturday afternoon.
