New Ulm, Minn. - Bethany Volleyball suffered a loss against Martin Luther that would put them out of the running for the UMAC post-season tournament.
Bethany lost in four games to MLC. In the first two games Bethany started out slow, and MLC was able to take a quick lead. The Vikings would come back a little too late in both sets scoring 23-25 in the first game, and 18-25 in the second.
In the third game Bethany came out right away, getting ahead, and managed to score several points in a row leading to a 25-18 victory over Martin Luther.
The Vikings fought hard in the last game, knowing they had to win to move on, but were unable to beat the Knights, losing 22-25.
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) led the team with 15 kills and 11 digs, and Vanessa Harkins (LeCenter, Minn./LeCenter) added 13 kills, 12 digs, and four ace serves. Nicole Jones (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) would add 45 set assists for BLC. Although both teams had 50 kills for the night, it was other mistakes that led to the Vikings defeat.
The Vikings will travel to South Dakota this weekend to take on Presentation, and on the way back also play Minnesota Morris, for their last games of the season.
