Volleyball wins at Northland in five sets

Box Score

Ashland, Wis. - Their second day on the road the Bethany volleyball team traveled to Ashland, Wisconsin, to play the Northland Lumberjills.

The Vikings came out strong the first game and with confidence won 25-16. Kerri Jones (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) single handedly scored three of the last four points with her ace serve, and the game was won on a serving error against Northland.

The second and third games, the girls struggled to keep the ball in the court on offense and Bethany ended up short losing 23-25 in both games.

Bethany once again picked up momentum and began to communicate better on the court. Playing the game they know well, they took the Lumberjills 25-17 in the fourth game, then won the match 15-6 in the last game.

Emily Schrupp (Norwood, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) once again led the team in kills, scoring 12 for the Vikings. Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) and Kerri Jones played a very defensive game for the Vikings, Edmison with 14 digs and Jones with 12. Jones also played a major role for Bethany by adding eight ace serves in the match.

The girls will have a big week this next week playing four games, starting with Gustavus on Monday at home at 7 p.m.
