Men's soccer suffers loss to St. Scholastica

Box Score

Mankato, Minn. - The Vikings men's soccer team suffered a close loss to the St. Scholastica Saints earlier today falling behind by just one goal.

It less than optimal weather for soccer, with chilly temperatures and a slight wind. The Vikings knew the Saints would be a tough opponent going into the game. St. Scholastica is considered the easy favorite to win the UMAC according to the preseason coaches' poll.

The Saints scored a little over two minutes into the game off a header. It was an unlucky deflection for the Vikings that put them down 1-0, which would be the final score.

The Vikings were outshot 19-8 by the Saints, with their only shot on net by Evans Tackie-Yarboi (West Jordan, Utah/Cooper Hills). Senior keeper Cameron Koopman (Phelps, Wis./Phelps) made three saves for the Vikings.

Come cheer on the boys in a non-confrence home game against Gustavus Adolphus this Tuesday September 21 at 7 p.m.
