Volleyball takes Gustavus in five sets

St. Peter, Minn. -  Bethany Lutheran came ready to play Friday night against Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter.
The Vikings lost the first game 10-25 and it didn’t look as if they would be able to pull off a win. There was no giving up though as the girls came back and won the next game 25-23. The third game was close once again, but Gustavus pushed to the end winning 25-21. Communication was key for the Vikings, and together the team was able to grab two more close games winning 26-24 and 15-11 in the next two sets.
“After the second game, our confidence was really boosted and we came out even more ready to play,” sophomore Meghan Houlihan (Elysian, Minn./WEM) said.
Emily Schrupp (Norwood, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) led the with an unmatched offensive game. Schrupp had 15 kills playing a major role in the Vikings win. Senior Nicole Jones (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) had three aces on the night, and 23 assists. Amanda Edminson (Mayer, Minn./Watertwon-Mayer) played a spectacular defensive game recording 20 digs.
The Vikings will once again be in action at 7 p.m. against Northwestern on their home court for the first conference game of the season on September 24.
