Volleyball takes Crown in first conference win of the season

Mankato, Minn. - Fired up and ready to go after Friday night’s loss to Northwestern, the Bethany volleyball team came out to win today, and they did just that taking the match in four games (23-25, 25-15, 28-26, 28-26).

Playing against conference opponent Crown, the Vikings showed they could come back to take control of any game.

The first set was close, but Bethany was unable to finish committing eight errors. The Vikings weren’t playing up to full potential, but would rise to the occasion to win the next three games.

With setter Nicole Jones (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) back in the second game for Bethany, intensity was rising and the Vikings came out on top, keeping Crown under ten points for the majority of the game.

Emily Schrupp (Norwood, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) led the Vikings with 14 kills followed by Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) with nine. Edmison was also the dig leader for BLC with 14. Jones had 18 assists.

The team will once again be in action next Friday night at home against preseason conference favorite St. Scholastica at 7 p.m.
