Mankato, Minn. - This weekend the Vikings had two home games in a row. Bethany Lutheran started the weekend off against St. Scholastica on Friday night. Although losing in three games of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-12, the Vikings still played well and were able to keep with St. Scholastica.
"Our serve receive was really good tonight, we were passing the ball very well," said assistant Rachelle Rude.
The Saints out killed the Vikings 36-25. Madison Marsh (Trimont, Minn./Martin County West) led the team with eight kills, and Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) and Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) added six each. Taylor Kahlow (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson) added three services aces for the Vikings. "St. Scholastica is a good team, and we played well against them."
BLC came out right away to play Saturday afternoon against the Northland LumberJills. They won handily in three games of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-18.
"We came out right away ready to play, and kept that attitude up the whole match," Head Coach Sue Forrey said. Edmison led the team with 11 kills, and Alyssa Fredrickson (Sanborn, Minn./Red Rock Central) added seven. The Vikings had 30 kills to Northland's 17, the Vikings also had six service aces.
Bethany Lutheran played a tough defensive game that stopped Northland from getting the ball over, or in play numerous times.
The Vikings are now 2-2 in the conference and travel to UMAC opponent Martin Luther for their next game on Wednesday.
