Match 1
Match 2
Bethany Viking Volleyball girls headed to Minnesota-Morris Friday night for a tough loss. The Vikings seemed to find it hard to pull together as a team, and lost the match in three games of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-15.
"Our serve receiving and passing was not so strong tonight, and when that is off, it's hard to execute the rest," said assistant coach Will Tatge.
Despite rough passing, setters Chrissy Schemmel (Mankato, Minn./Riverland CC) and Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura) were able to set up 29 assists. Amada Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) had 10 kills, and Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) added seven.
The Vikings also struggled to put up a block against the Cougars, which resulted in no blocks for the Vikings, making it hard on the defense.
The next day the Vikings got a much needed win against Presentation, as they traveled to Aberdeen, South Dakota. After the tough loss to MN-Morris the night before, the girls were able to come out and win in four games of 25-18, 25-21, 16-25, and 25-19.
The Vikings had a great offensive game, out killing Presentation 51 to their 38 kills. Catilin Decker (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka) led the team with 12 kills, and Edmison added 11 along with 20 digs. Franzen had 21 assists for the Vikings. Bethany Lutheran was able to easily hit around Presentation's block, which resulted in only one block by the Saints compared to 11 by BLC.
The Vikings were very happy with this win, and are looking forward to playing on home ground this upcoming Friday night.
