New Ulm, Minn. - The BLC Vikings had a close match up as they traveled to Martin Luther for a conference competiton. After four games, MLC came away with a victory, but BLC was not far behind, scoring 22-25, 19-25, 26-25, and 18-25.
The Vikings had a rough start to each game, letting MLC get a run of four or five points, before scoring themselves. "The little errors were what were killing us," Head Coach Sue Forrey said. The Vikings had 10 missed serves alone, to add to some of the small errors they wished to eliminate.
Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) led the team with 11 kills, and Alyssa Fredrickson (Sanborn, Minn./Red Rock Central) added eight. Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) had six kills, and played a good defensive game at the net getting two block assists and two solo blocks.
"The games were very back and forth, and the rallys were long, in the end they just fought harder."
The Vikings will travel to Minnesota-Morris and to Presentation to play this weekend in more UMAC games.
