Softball defeats Presentation, falls to MN-Morris

Aberdeen, S.D. – The softball team was back on the road the day after Easter to take on Presentation and Minnesota-Morris. The squad split the day defeating the Saints, and then falling to the Cougars.

Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) pitched another solid game earning her second shutout this week. She allowed four hits while striking out four batters and walking two.

 

Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn. / West Lutheran) led the Vikings offensively going two for three, she also had two funs and two RBI.

 

Bethany Lutheran only had one error in the field. The Saints had five costly errors allowing eight runs to come off of six hits.

Edmison got the pitching start again for the Vikings but was relieved by Kyla Schapekahm (New Prague, Minn. / New Prague) after an inning and two thirds. Each pitcher allowed two runs while on the mound, and each of them only had one earned run.

 

Bethany Lutheran had four errors in game two, while the Cougars committed two.

 

Gena Chester (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) recorded a double, one run and one RBI. Schapekahm went two for four at the plate. Jamie Goebel (Danvers, Ill. / Olympia) and Jonnica Norell (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter) recorded the other RBI for the Vikings.

 

BLC had a total of seven hits and left seven stranded on base.

 

The Vikings will play Northland tomorrow at home, then will play four games this weekend as they host the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Crossover.
