Mankato, Minn. – The men’s soccer team played in front of a large crowd for the home opener on Friday, but couldn’t find a way to defeat opponent Wisconsin Lutheran.
Bethany Lutheran fell 2-1 against the Warriors. The Vikings were outshot 27-22, and the corner kick advantage went to WLC 9-3.
Keeper Ryan Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo./Fountain Fort Carson) made 11 saves to keep the game tight. At halftime BLC was down by one, which quickly turned into two when Wisconsin Lutheran scored 10 minutes into the second half.
Jimmy DuTremaine (Bloomington, Minn. / John F. Kennedy) answered back almost immediately finally getting the Vikes on the board less than a minute after the Warriors second goal. DuTremaine’s goal was assisted by Joe Nuah (St. Paul, Minn./Arlington).
Despite a slight swing in momentum the Vikings were unable to find a way to score dropping their overall record 1-2.
The Vikings will hit the road to play North Central tomorrow at 6 p.m.
