Viking men freeze Northland

Box Score

Ashland, Wis. – Bethany Men’s soccer won their first conference game of the year against Northland Friday afternoon.

Bethany Lutheran won 2-0 against the Northland LumberJacks using good counters and aggressive attacks to score on the young opponent.

Ryan Bolte (Colorado Springs Colo. / Fountain Fort Carson) owned the net for his first shutout of the year. The Vikes defense made his job easy today by not allowing many shots on net.

Ck Pock (Faribault Minn. / Faribault) scored first for the men with a header off of an impressive cross from midfielder Jimmy DuTremaine (Bloomington, Minn. / John F. Kennedy).

Joe Nuah (St. Paul, Minn / Arlington) scored in his second straight game with a nice pass from DuTremaine across the middle.

The Vikes dominated the game on both sides; they were more aggressive offensively, while maintaining a steady defensive stance against the LumberJack advances. The game became a little bit chippy at the end as the Northland men became frustrated, earning two yellow cards.

Both men’s and women’s teams will travel to Duluth tomorrow to play St. Scholastica.

The Viking’s men improved to 3-2 on the season and are 1-0 after their first conference game.
