Storm Lake, Iowa - The Bethany Vikings lost in four games to Buena Vista Tuesday night in what was the last non-conference game before starting UMAC play on Friday.
 
The Vikings put up a great defensive game at the net, with 17 blocks, eight blocks were from Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown Mayer), and six were from freshman Alyssa Fredrickson (Sanborn, Minn./Red Rock Central). Despite the great effort at the net, the Vikings lost the games 17-25, then won 25-19, then lost 12-25 and 14-25.
 
Freshman Madison Marsh (Trimont, Minn./Martin County West) led the team with 13 kills, and Fredrickson added seven. The Vikings had 25 kills to Buena Vista’s 42. Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn./Lewiston-Altura) added 21 assists for the Vikings, setting them up at the net.
 
It was a tough loss for the Vikings, but they are confident the pieces are coming together, and they are learning to work together as one unit.
 
The Vikings will travel to Northwestern for the first conference game of the year Friday, and then take on Crown Saturday.
