Game 2
Storm Lake, Iowa – The men’s soccer team ended the first game of the season in a hard fought double overtime loss to Bethel, but came back to defeat Buena Vista on their home turf in a tournament over Labor Day weekend.
The Vikings battled with Bethel, a talented MIAC team, but couldn’t stop the goal that came with just 2:24 left in second overtime to end the game.

The Vikings were outshot 12-19. Starting keeper Ryan Bolte (Colorado Springs, Colo. / Fountain Fort Carson) made three saves playing all 117 plus minutes of the game.
The Vikings redeemed themselves the next day against the Beavers of Buena Vista. BLC was down 2-0 before scoring three unanswered goals in the second half. Shots were even with 17 kicked by each team, but the Vikings were more on target placing 10 shots on goal compared to the Beavers six.
Joe Nuah (St. Paul, Minn./Arlington) scored the first two goals for the Vikings, less than ten minutes apart to tie the game, his first assisted by CK Pock (Faribault, Minn./Faribault). Then with nine minutes left to go, freshman Jorge Perez (Colorado Spring, Colo. / Fountain Fort Carson) scored his first goal in a Vikings uniform to win the game.
