Volleyball falls to Martin Luther on the road

New Ulm, Minn. – The Vikings fell in three sets to the Martin Luther Knights on the road by scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-14.
 
The Vikings laid down 20 kills but had 24 errors to leave the door open for the Knights. Martin Luther had 39 kills and 20 errors. Bethany had 30 digs while the Knights had 46.
 
Kasslin Swenson (Nicollet, Minn. / Nicollet) led the team offensively with six kills while committing only one attack error. Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn. / Truman) had five kills. Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn. / Lewiston-Altura) and Allie VanHee (Madelia, Minn. / Madelia) split time at the setter position. Franzen was credited with nine assists, VanHee had seven.
 
VanHee and Jessi Jurries (Trimont, Minn. / Martin County West) led the team defensively each digging up eight balls.  Katie Krieger (Blue Earth, Minn. / Blue Earth Area) played tough defense at the net recording four block assists, Swenson had three.
 
The Vikings fell to 5-21 overall and 4-8 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). With the loss Bethany has been taken out of contention for a UMAC Post-Season Tournament spot. Bethany will finish the season on the road traveling to Northland on October 26th and then to St. Scholastica on October 27th.
