Volleyball upsets Northland on the road

Ashland, Wis. – The Bethany Viking volleyball team upset Northland on the road defeating the LumberJills in three sets 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15.
 
The Vikings played solid volleyball recording 39 kills and committing only 12 attack errors. Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn. / Truman) had a very strong offensive night putting down 14 kills while committing one error. She had a .619 attack percentage. Caitlin Decker (Ramsey, Minn. / Anoka) also had only one attack error while contributing eight kills. Emily Franzen (Lewiston, Minn. / Lewiston-Altura) had 30 of the team’s 35 assists.
 
The Bethany defense was on their toes all match only allowing Northland 26 kills in three sets. Jessi Jurries (Trimont, Minn. / Martin County West) led the way digging up 19 balls. Kasslin Swenson (Nicollet, Minn. / Nicollet) had 10 digs, she also recorded five kills. Franzen had nine digs, while Decker had seven. Wiederheoft had four block assists while playing defense at the net.
 
The Vikings are 6-21 overall and 5-8 in the conference. The squad will play their last game of the season on October 27th at 1 p.m.
