Softball splits doubleheader at Martin Luther

New Ulm, Minn. – The Vikings split a conference doubleheader with the Martin Luther Knights. Bethany fell in the first game 8-10 and then defeated MLC 7-9.
 
Game 1 (L 8-10)
Emily Rauchman (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) split time pitching. Rauchman went two and two third innings allowing 10 hits and 10 runs, only three runs were earned. She struck out one batter and walked two. Edmison came in for the remaining three and a third innings. She struck out one batter and let in no runs on two hits.
 
Rebecca Ludewig (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Jessie Jurries (Trimont, Minn./Martin County West) each led offensively going three for four. Cortney Hallahan (Hutchinson, Minn./Holy Family Catholic) and Dani Christie (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) each had a double.
 
Bethany left eight on base and had one error in the field. The Vikings had a total of 14 hits. Martin Luther left five on base and had three errors.
 
Game 2 (W 9-7)
Edmison pitched a full seven innings to earn the win for the Vikes. She allowed 10 hits and seven runs, six of which were earned. The senior struck out two batters and walked one.
 
Offensively a big seventh inning got the Vikings back into the game. BLC managed six runs in the seventh to pull ahead 9-6. Rauchman, as the designated player, went three for four with two RBI. Edmison and Christie also each had two RBI. Edmison recorded two doubles, Christie had one. Gena Chester (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) and Ashley Jensen (Delano, Minn./West Lutheran) also contributed a double each.
 
Bethany had three errors and left nine on base. The Vikings totaled 13 hits. Martin Luther had one error in the field and left six on base.
 
Next, the Vikings will host Northwestern in a doubleheader at 3 p.m. on April 20th.
